Net trade equity = trade-in value − amount owed. Estimated amount financed = truck price + entered taxes/fees − down payment − net trade equity. For a positive annual loan rate, the payment uses the standard fixed-payment amortization formula. At 0%, payment = amount financed ÷ number of months.

The operating buffer is added after the loan payment. It is a budget-planning amount, not debt and not part of lender DTI.

How the financed amount becomes the truck payment

Taxes / fees = truck price × taxes and fees percent

Net trade-in equity is calculated as trade-in value minus the amount still owed on the trade. Positive equity reduces the amount financed. Negative equity increases the amount financed because old loan balance is being carried into the new deal.

The monthly loan payment uses the standard amortizing loan formula:

Payment = P × r × (1 + r)n ÷ ((1 + r)n − 1)

In that formula, P is the financed amount, r is the monthly interest rate, and n is the number of monthly payments. If the annual loan rate is zero, the calculator divides the financed amount evenly across the term.
